Queenstown elopement at Garden spur lost in love elopements NZ

Love Story

Billy and Jean were definitely destined to be lovers…

Exactly six years ago, a casual Friday night at the Blind Bear sparked a new beginning in Billy and Jean’s lives. After a romantic kiss on the dancefloor, they’ve been together ever since, living a life dedicated to creating precious memories. These two have been on many awesome adventures together, from camping trips to amazing campervan holidays. Billy and Jean have constantly proven that they’re perfect for each other not just because of a hit Michael Jackson song, but because they work perfectly as a team. As parents to their darling Maggie, and as polar opposites that fit perfectly together, like magnets.

Accommodation: Airbnb

Ceremony: Garden Spur, Cecil Peak

Couple’s Photos: Vineyard at Airbnb

On the Day

Billy and Jean came over from Australia with their adorable daughter, Maggie. The couple had been to Queenstown before and stayed at the same Airbnb because they absolutely fell in love with it. It has its own vineyard, and in autumn the leaves turn into a beautiful orange colour, transforming the place into a golden paradise overlooking the Shotover River below. Tom, our videographer, and I met them at the gorgeous Airbnb and organized the “First-look” photos in the vineyard, where Billy and Maggie got to see Jean for the first time, all dressed up for their elopement.

Then, we jumped into the car and drove to Southern Glacier Lakes Helicopters, where we flew to Garden Spur, which is a landing spot in Cecil Peak. It was a misty day, which perfectly added a moody and mystical feel to the day. We even saw a little Native Kea hopping around up there, which was absolutely magical. We set up a little picnic blanket for little Maggie to play with her toys and little sensory items that Jean brought with her. She behaved so well and just sat quietly with Michael, our heli pilot. We had a beautiful ceremony with Ellita Thomas, and even though it got a bit chilly, they laughed through it and we got some magical shots up there afterwards.

After that, we headed down, back to the Airbnb and had champagne at the beautiful vineyard overlooking the gorgeous view. Sadly, we had to say goodbye, and Billy and Jean went to pick up their campervan for their adventurous trip around the South Island.
