Love Story

Angela and Heath’s love story started at the University of Sydney during their MBA...

Though they’ve already known each other for a while, it wasn’t until Angela noticed Heath’s dance moves at a late-night karaoke bar that he really made an impression. Heath began emailing Angela, and they finally went out for dinner and beers at the Oaks Hotel, and everything just clicked from there.

Eloping excites them because of the mountains and the freedom to do as they please. Plus, keeping it a secret for a few months adds a fun, & romantic twist to their story.

They love hiking, enjoying good food, travelling, beach days, camping, and sailing. Their perfect weekend includes a slow morning, breakfast at a café (pancakes for Heath), a walk, a swim or surf at Freshwater Beach, reading, and cooking a nice meal together. It’s the simple, everyday moments that make their bond special.

On the day

Angela and Heath flew in from Sydney, Australia together with some of their closest family and their son. On their elopement day, Tom and the couple flew to Lake Erskine for Angela and Heath’s ceremony. We hired a BK117 helicopter, which was bigger than the usual helis we hire for elopements so that everyone could go together.  It was a perfect sunny day, which made the flight there just phenomenal. The views were to die for (as always!) and everyone had an amazing time looking out the window and just soaking in the Queenstown landscape. The mountains had a little bit of snow at the top which was breathtaking!

We landed late in the afternoon and decided to snap a few Couples Photos first because the sunlight was absolutely perfect. Angela wore a traditional wedding dress with a GORGEOUS Rue de Seine veil with amazing embroidery and the colours looked stunning in the sunlight. After a few shots, they had their beautiful ceremony with Sarah Noble by the lake with their closest family. After the ceremony, Tom captured more moments of the newlyweds and celebrated with a bottle of champagne.

It was a perfect day for an elopement at Lake Erskine, with the fresh snow on the mountains and the perfect late afternoon sunlight!
