Aurleigh and Tony’s love story began through a bit of matchmaking magic….

Introduced by mutual childhood friends, their first date sparked a connection that quickly turned into something special. Fast forward, and they decided to trade in a traditional wedding for an intimate elopement in New Zealand, choosing to say “I do” against the backdrop of some of the most stunning landscapes in the world.

For them, eloping was more than just avoiding the big wedding chaos, it was about making memories in a place that truly spoke to their hearts. They couldn’t resist the allure of a heli wedding in New Zealand!

Their ideal weekend together? A mix of fine food, wine, and active fun, a perfect fit for their Coromandel Peak elopement. A simple wedding ceremony on a mountain peak, coupled with a cozy dinner afterwards. It was the epitome of a beautiful, intimate wedding!

On the Day

Tom and Kaleb met up with Aurleigh and Tony on their wedding day at the Heritage Hotel in Fernhill, Queenstown, where Aurleigh was getting ready in her stunning dress that she’d brought all the way from home. After some getting-ready shots with the couple, Tom captured their first look, which took place on the roof of the hotel, where they were greeted with the most breathtaking view of the Remarkables and the lake stretching out behind them. 

The sun was shining brightly, and the whole scene was a perfect match for such a special moment. Tom and Kaleb, our videographer, were there to capture every angle of it, and it couldn’t have been more beautiful.

After their first look, everyone hopped on a helicopter and flew out to Coromandel Peak for the ceremony. It was a picture-perfect day! Clear blue skies, soft, fluffy clouds, and just the right amount of breeze to keep things comfortable. The ceremony location was nothing short of stunning, surrounded by golden grass and the sparkling blue water of the lake. 

Aurleigh and Tony, both from the United States, shared their vows in this incredible setting, surrounded by nothing but nature’s beauty. After the ceremony, they popped some champagne to celebrate.

They spent some more time exploring the area around Coromandel Peak, taking in the scenery and making the most of every beautiful spot. After that, they hopped back on the helicopter for the short flight to Bayonet Peak. The landscape was completely different, much more dramatic and rugged, with towering peaks and sweeping views. The landing was smooth, and the lack of wind allowed the heli to touch down right at the very top of the mountain along the ridgeline. They set up a picnic right on the edge of the peak, champagne in hand. They even threw some confetti into the air to celebrate!

After this incredible adventure, the team flew them back down to the airport, and their day wrapped up with a relaxing dinner at The Nest Restaurant at Kamana Hotel, just a short drive from the Heritage Hotel. It was a day filled with stunning views, beautiful moments, and a couple that was so undoubtedly in love. Tom and Kaleb did an amazing job capturing it all. 

It was one of those weddings that you’ll never forget, full of adventure, love, and memories that will last a lifetime!
