Queenstown Heli locations

80% of our couples choose to add a helicopter experience to their elopement day, and it’s easy to see why. From breathtaking alpine landings to glacial lakes and untouched mountain views, it adds a sense of adventure, intimacy and magic that feels completely unforgettable.

For those dreaming of a heli elopement experience, you’ll find our current flight options and pricing below. Each flight can be added to any of our base elopement packages.* Flights are booked through us for a seamless experience, with payment made directly to Heliworks on the day.

Prices include a 45-minute landing at your chosen peak, departing Queenstown, in a 6-seater helicopter, perfect for the two of you plus up to 4 guests. Bringing more people? We can arrange a 9-seater or a second flight, just let us know your guest count.

Click through each location to explore galleries from both winter and the rest of the year, so you can imagine which backdrop feels most like you.

*Please note: helicopter flights are an additional add-on and are not included within our packages.

FAQ

Can we visit more than one helicopter location?

Yes. This depends on the package you choose.
  • Our Moment package includes one helicopter location, giving you a beautiful experience in an alpine setting.
  • Our Adventure package allows up to two helicopter locations on the same day, perfect if you want variety
  • Our Luxe package includes up to three helicopter locations, creating a full storytelling experience across multiple peaks, lakes, or glaciers.

We’ll help you plan the flow so each location feels intentional, unhurried and seamless.

When is the best time of year for snow?

Winter (June–September) is the only time we can guarantee snow on the mountain tops. May and October often offer snow-dusted peaks without the full winter conditions, ideal if you want the look of snow with milder travel weather. Higher-altitude locations like Cecil Peak and Lake Erskine tend to hold snow later into spring.

How do we pay for the helicopter flight?

Your helicopter flight is arranged through Heliworks and paid directly to them on the day of your elopement, separate from your Lost in Love package. We coordinate everything behind the scenes so it feels completely seamless for you.

What if we have more than 6 guests coming with us?

No problem at all. We can arrange a 9-seater helicopter or organise additional flights so everyone can be included. Just share your guest numbers when you enquire and we’ll tailor everything for you.

Can our older parents or guests with mobility needs come along?

Yes — most heli landing locations are accessible to guests of all ages. Children and toddlers can fly seated safely on a parent’s lap, and ceremony locations are typically just a short, gentle walk from the landing zone.

What should we wear for a heli elopement?

Layers are essential even in summer. Alpine environments are cooler and often windier than Queenstown itself. Once your date is confirmed, we’ll send you a detailed “what to wear and bring” guide so you feel fully prepared.

What happens if the helicopter is grounded by weather on the day?

If flying isn’t possible, we have beautiful backup ground locations ready for every elopement. Where possible, timing can also shift on the day or an alternative heli window may be arranged. Either way, your day will still feel incredible, whether you fly or not.

Do all locations work year-round?

Most landing locations are accessible year-round. In winter, some alpine lakes may freeze, creating a beautiful snow-covered landscape. The only heli location that is typically not accessible in winter is Earnslaw Burn.

We've coordinated 500+ helicopter elopements across Queenstown's most magical peaks!
