Love Story

When Rhys and Jordyn first met through a mutual friend, neither of them could have predicted how quickly their lives would intertwine. Their first date, a casual lunch, took an unexpected turn when Rhys brought along his beautiful dog, Chops, who immediately won Jordyn over. Despite Jordyn’s month-long trip overseas shortly after that first date, the connection between them only grew stronger upon her return. The early days of their relationship were a little challenging, with Rhys undergoing rigorous training at the fire academy while living an hour apart. But even then, it was clear to both of them that they had found something special—each other.

With a shared passion for healthy, active living and a love for beach walks with Chops, they’ve built a beautiful life together on the Sunshine Coast. Their plan? To break the big news to their families during a special dinner, cleverly disguised as a celebration for Jordyn’s upcoming 30th birthday. It’s an intimate, romantic gesture that perfectly reflects who they are—deeply in love, family-oriented, and always up for an adventure.

Accommodation: Airbnb

Ceremony: Coromandel Peak

Couple’s Photos: The Remarkables

On the day

Kaleb (our videographer for the day) and photographer Kate met Rhys and Jordyn at their friend’s Airbnb on the day of their elopement. The place overlooked the lake, which was a happy bonus! After helping Jordyn with her dress, we went outside to their beautiful balcony for their First Look, with the Remarkables as the backdrop. After a few shots of the heartwarming moment, we left and drove to Heliworks, where our hired heli was waiting to fly us to Coromandel Peak.

The sky was golden when we arrived together with their celebrant Ellie, and even though it was only past noon, the sky looked like a beautiful sunset. There was even a dusting of snow up there (which we don’t usually get!), so everything was just absolutely lovely. After the beautiful ceremony and a couple of shots, we flew to the Remarkables next to land in the snow. Being from Australia, Rhys and Jordyn were getting cold by this time, but they were enjoying the snow so much that they weren’t really bothered. After capturing some amazing moments and popping champagne to celebrate, we finally flew back down and wrapped up a beautiful elopement day.
