Nothing feels rushed or staged.

There’s space to pause, explore, and take it all in as the day unfolds around you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which time of year is best?

Seasons in New Zealand are the opposite of what you’re used to in the U.S.—so when it’s summer in the States, it’s winter in NZ. Here’s a breakdown:

Summer (Dec–Feb): Warm, long days, ideal for lake swims and golden sunsets
Autumn (Mar–May): Crisp air, beautiful foliage, and golden mountain light
Winter (Jun–Aug): Snowy peaks, cozy vibes, and epic alpine backdrops
Spring (Sep–Nov): Wildflowers, lupins in bloom, and fresh greens everywhere

A lot of our American couples trade the chilly U.S. winter for long summer days in New Zealand.
Think golden sunsets, alpine hikes, wild swims, and epic landscapes that feel like another planet. It’s the ultimate escape — and the most unforgettable way to elope.

Will you be charging me in USD or NZD?

We list our packages on the website in USD for clarity, but just so you know - New Zealand has its own currency (NZD), which tends to be much lower than the USD. That means eloping here can be a lot more affordable than you you'd expect!

Do we need a visa to get married or elope in New Zealand?

Yes, but it’s super straightforward. Most U.S. citizens need to apply for an NZETA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) before flying in. It’s valid for 2 years and allows multiple visits of up to 3 months each. It’s quick to apply and costs about $9–$12 USD.

Is it legal for Americans to get married in New Zealand?

Totally! Your marriage in New Zealand is legally recognized in the U.S., as long as it’s done through the proper legal process. You’ll need to apply for a NZ marriage license online, which takes 3 working days to process and your officiant will help you with. After the ceremony, you’ll receive an official marriage certificate that you can use back home.

How long should we stay in New Zealand for an elopement trip?

Most American clients we've had stay for 7 to 14 days in the South Island to make the most of the travel time. You can spend a few days around Queenstown for the wedding, then explore the South Island or hop up to the North Island for a little honeymoon adventure. Think of it as a wedding and a once-in-a-lifetime trip rolled into one.

Will vendors be familiar with American preferences or traditions?

Definitely. Queenstown is a huge destination for international couples, especially from the U.S., so vendors here are used to a range of wedding styles—from short-and-sweet mountaintop vows to more traditional elopements with all the details. Whether you're after something super relaxed or a full itinerary with hair, makeup, and helicopter flights it's all doable.

How physically demanding are mountain or heli elopements?

Here in Queenstown, we are incredibly lucky- you don't need to be an experienced hiker to reach stunning mountain top views. if you choose an on-the-ground elopement, you might walk 2-5 minutes between photo spots, but if you go for a helicopter elopement, you'll be dropped right at the top!
