Love Story

Five years ago, Argentinian-born Yvonne caught Kurt’s attention with a pair of funky boots (her gorgeous face maybe added a few points to her appeal 🙂 ). It was her first time overseas and was falling in love with Waiheke Island. She decided to stay and ended up working at Mudbrick Winery & Restaurant, where she met Kurt. Being from opposite sides of the globe, these two would have never known that their lives together would start while basking in the light of the super blue blood moon on the shores of Waiheke island. Now they’re celebrating that new life together with an adventurous elopement at Earnslaw Burn.

Accommodation: Stoneridge Estate / @stoneridgeestate

Ceremony: Earnslaw Burn

Couple’s Photos: Big Geordie

On the day

The day started at the beautiful Stoneridge Estate, overlooking Lake Hayes, with the couple getting ready at The Lodge. They both looked spectacular, with Kurt rocking his green suit from Politix and Yvonne wearing her gorgeous bohemian-style dress from Jopanni Bridal, with her bouquet from Bespoke Weddings and Events. While Yvonne was getting ready, we hid Kurt in the gardens ready for their First look. When he saw the beautiful Yvonne wearing her wedding dress for the first time. He fell in love again like it was the summer of 2017.

After capturing Kurt’s delight at seeing his beautiful bride-to-be, we drove to the airport and caught a flight to Earnslaw Burn. Andrew Bell officiated the ceremony right under a waterfall, where the couple said their vows with the sound of the water cascading down in the background, which was absolutely romantic and magical. We explored the area after the ceremony and walked towards the huge Schist rocks with the waterfalls and glacier snow in the background one last time, before flying to Big Geordie, which is one of my new fave Heli locations because not only is Lake Wakatipu sparkling in the background, but you can also enjoy looking over Pigeon and Pig Islands, which really elevated the already magnificent view.

We had champagne, and even though it was windy, we still got awesome shots, especially with Yvonne’s hair dramatically blowing in the wind. After a quick stop there, we landed groundside & drove back to Stoneridge Estate, where they cut their delicious cake detailed with an impeccable hand-drawn picture of the mountains.

What a fun and adventurous elopement at Earnslaw Burn!
