Love Story
Taylah and Josh met at university seven years ago, and from the very beginning, they became best friends. The kind of relationship where you genuinely want to do everything together, and they did. They’ve kicked a lot of goals side by side over the years, and this elopement was their way of celebrating that and promising to keep doing it forever.
What excites them most about eloping is that it’s a special memory that’s just for the two of them. No big crowd, no fuss. Just a day that belongs entirely to them.
When they’re not busy making memories, you’ll find Taylah and Josh out on the golf course. Josh is pretty handy with a club, while Taylah is self-described as “very average, but slowly improving.”
Together they love travelling to different places just to play new courses. The fresh air, the new scenery, the good company. Josh is also a former chef, so good food is serious business in their household. Their perfect weekend looks like a big sleep-in, great coffee, something delicious to eat, a round of golf, and finishing the night at the cinema. Simple, easy, and completely them.

On the day
Tom and Kate met Taylah and Josh at Jack’s Retreat, where they were staying. Jack’s Retreat is a stunning property with a beautiful outlook over the lake and gorgeous styling throughout. Taylah had added additional florals to her package so we could style the outdoor fireplace, going for an autumnal palette of warm oranges and soft peaches that looked absolutely beautiful with the stonework. We captured the getting-ready photos there, soaking in the calm and intimate energy of the morning.
From Jack’s Retreat, we headed to Cecil Peak for their ceremony. It was so beautiful! Sweeping views over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables, the kind of setting that makes vows feel even more romantic
After the ceremony, we made our way to Lochnagar for couples portraits and champagne. It was beautifully moody and atmospheric, being right at the lake’s edge.
Then came one of the most perfectly on-brand moments of the day when we got back, they jumped on a golf cart and headed out for more photos.
The day finished back at Jack’s Retreat, where a luxe tablescape picnic had been set up for them. A beautiful cake, an elegant spread of food, candles, and stunning florals. They also had Murray’s iconic Mustang on hand to round out the day in style.
It was a perfect Queenstown elopement day! Moody skies, breathtaking peaks, a luxurious picnic, and two people who are, without question, each other’s person.
