Love Story

Christos and Sophie’s story started with a colourful conversation

Sparks flew at the Racoon Club, (actually, if truth be told, it was when Sophie saw Christos’ dogs) but the pair didn’t cross paths again for another month. It was then that they really connected and went out for drinks. After a round of beer and Canada Club and Dry, they went back to Chris’ driveway and talked for hours ending the night with a kiss under the stars. Fast forward almost 8 years, the couple has now travelled to beautiful places, bought a house that they love renovating, and have adorable fur babies that add so much joy to their days. With friendship and trust, the two have built a beautiful life together. Now, they decided to make everything official at the beautiful Kelvin Heights in Queenstown, New Zealand with a proposal and an elopement all on the same day!

On the day

Sophie and Christos got in touch with me just a few short months before their elopement. During that time, they weren’t even engaged yet since they had this amazing plan that Christos would propose to Sophie right before their wedding. None of their friends and family would have a clue that they would come back home to Australia as a married couple. Together with the celebrant, Ellita Thomas, and our videographer, we set up a beautiful proposal scene at Kelvin Heights beachfront. We met the couple there, where they were already dressed and ready for their proposal.

Christos proposed to Sophie on video and we got to capture such a beautiful moment. After that, we went straight to the amazing ceremony. Coincidentally, someone had created a driftwood arch and left it there which was amazing. We decided to use that and Sophie had a bunch of flowers that she’d picked herself. It was a beautiful summer evening, perfect for a  ceremony full of love and laughter. After saying the couple said their I do’s, we drove to Deer Park Heights for a picnic with champagne in retro glasses, which absolutely fit Sophie’s outfit. She looked so glamorous, straight out of an old Hollywood movie while we took photos of them.

It was such a magical, intimate day that definitely tugged on our heartstrings. Christos and Sophie’s elopement at Kelvin Heights is proof that your wedding day should be about the love that you have for your partner, and how the only thing you really need for it to be special, is each other.
